===瞬間===
Read しゅん　かん. According to [[http://www.teeweg.de/de/dogu/raku/typen.html|UH]], time between blinking. When you blink, all is past. Also the name of a [[raku|楽]] bowl.

===Wild Ducks===
百丈懷海 (Baizhang Huaihai, Jap: ひゃくじょう　えかい) (720–814) walked with his master and they see some ducks fly by. //What was that?// //Wild ducks!// //Where did they go?// //They flew away//. The master then grabs 百丈's nose and twists it: //Where could they have flown off to?// (//They are still there!//) and 百丈 was enlightened.


===十二支===
   * Read じゅうにし, the 12 "earthly branches" (= divisions) (as opposed to the ten heavenly stems).
   * The rat was first because he hitched a ride on the ox who was in the lead, but jumped off the ox and became the first animal of the zodiac. (According to [[http://issoantea.com/january-seasonal-notes/|issoan]])

===四君子===
Read にしくんし, the //four gentlemen// representing the four seasons: Plum, orchid (蘭), bamboo and chrysanthemum.

===歳寒三友===
Read as さいかん　の　さんゆう, the 3 friends of the end of winter. They are plum, peach and cherry blossoms: first two held in high regards by Chinese as signs of eternity; latter one on one hand has to do with vanity and death, and on the other hand with the Japanese trying to establish their cultural independence.

===月===
   * The full moon is often seen as a representation of enlightenment. 
   * However, it is more usually represented slightly obscured. //Even the moon is displeasing without clouds,// said [[people|村田珠光]]. 
   * The autumn moon is considered particularly beautiful, often depicted with geese (雁).
   * The Japanese see a rabbit pounding もち where we see a man in the moon.

===蚊遣器===
   * かやり, also 蚊遣り豚 or 蚊取り豚. 
   * It sits in a nostalgic spot for the Japanese, evoking memories of visiting grandparents in the summer. Being a household item, it's also a stark contrast to Chinese ware.
   * You'll find it as a [[kashi|sweet]], and it could also make a good [[mei|御銘]]
