• It's a 利休好み, who used a board from the 山里丸 compound of 大阪 castle. This board is a 仕付板(しつけいた), which is used for sewing 着物.
  • What's special about this 棚 is that the bottom board has been treated in the 砂摺(すなずり) technique (which means it's been sanded). Because of this, it can be moistened, and thus, it's the only 棚 on which you can display unglazed 水指 that need soaking in water!
  • Yabonouchi and Enshū also use this 棚!
  • Here, the 茶器 and 茶筅 are aligned with the 棚; not in the 流し position!
  • It is quite similar to 無限斎好み 掛け袖棚:
  • For 初炭, 香合 and 羽 are arranged in an 八 fashion.
  • You do 半出し with a spouted 水指 here, opening the lid with 3 hands. (Remove the 蓋置 before.)
