It's funny, because it's a 運棚 with a nail. So you can end up with the 柄杓 hanging, the 蓋置 on the floor and wanting to take away the 水指. So in that case, take the 蓋置, then pull out the 水指, put the 蓋置 back reaching over the 水指.
If you're doing 総荘, I presume this is where you then move the 茶器 back slightly, fold your 帛紗, place it in the front R corner. Then you take the 水指 home.
