- It's all about coolness: Little decoration, small 釜 or きりかけ. Crab or shell 蓋置. つりぶね 花入. Lots of reeds. Baskets for タバコ盆. 羽箒 could be heron (Reiher). しの焼き is good for 茶碗, and soaked びぜん. つるべ for cold water container.
- 大割豚（おおわり蓋）only in the large room (Almanac)
- You'd usually do 朝の茶事, where there's no 後炭, so in 初炭, there's automatically a viewing of the ash and wetting of the 釜 (according to Almanac). Sweets can be served outside on the waiting bench. 続き薄茶. 焼物 omitted, but 5 pickles. Can be gruel with 梅干し instead of rice
- There's also an event of lotus viewing, maybe on a boat with 茶箱 and lotus rice

和菓子
- At Hiromi's in VII 22 we made たんざくねりきり, which was a ball of あんこ wrapped in green and then white paste. Then a bamboo stalk was drawn in, and some よかん or かんてん shaped like the little wish cards people hang for 七夕 applied.
- 主菓子: Mizubotan sweets. Pink-tinted bean paste wrapped in arrowroot dough mirrors the beauty of the botan (tree peony).
- 干菓子: Tombo (dragonfly) sweets.

- some places in Japan have a 風鈴祭り（ふうりん まつり）, a wind bell festival. So maybe 風鈴 is a good 御名?
