* 墨蹟(ぼく せき): Lit. ink traces, Zen calligraphies. 村田珠光(むらた しゅこう) (1422-1502) got one from his Zen teacher and hung it in the tea room.

古筆切(こ ひつ ぎれ) : fragments of ancient writings, often taken from collections of poetry
消息(しょう そく): Lit.
extinguished breath, personal letters (as opposed to official ones). Such letters of tea masters are appreciated. Sometimes they accompany
道具, in which case they can be hung in the 待合(まち あい)(waiting room) and the main item used in the tea gathering.
禅機画(ぜん き が): Paintings of Zen activity. They remind us of the out-of-the-ordinary ordinariness of life (CQ75).
