和敬
- Hounsai did this on an air carrier for 神風 pilots in WW2.
- Uses two stacked 茶碗, usually done with a paulownia wood box. No 拝見.
- 古帛紗's fold on the R
Entering
- Entering finishes with a bow after the 振り出し is out; for this the 茶杓 needs to get out first, but nothing else
- Bow with box at 茶口, then carry in box, then 建水.
- Move box to the side, get 和敬板 (slide fingers up the box, grasp it, and only then pick it up), then lid (rotate it in front of you). First さばき (dramatic!), clean lid with 3 strokes (First one slow, then the other two fast) (can the lid touch the ground?). Get out 茶杓 (R, L, R in the middle)
- Get out 振り出し (reholding it in the middle), then bow
- First guest gets the 振り出し and places it outside of 畳 (correct?)
- It might be nice to sit farther away at first from the 風呂 to give more room to bow, and then move closer, but it certainly isn't standard.
Unpacking
- Finishes with the 建水 being moved, 茶筅 and 茶巾 remain in their respective 筒
- Get out 茶碗 stack with two hands, place it on the 板 (I think it's nicer not to rehold). Get out 棗, then 古帛紗 (first pull it out a little, then completely).
- Move stack with two hands to 古帛紗, then get inner 茶碗 with 2 hands, put it down with R
- Move box up (to be in line with 風呂 board), then 建水
Purifying Time!
- The things that we are getting out of the box now, we get out with L
- さばき for 棗 and 茶杓, then lid of 鉄瓶（てつびん）(I guess because you're already holding the 帛紗, so you might just as well do it now)
- 茶筅 into 茶碗, as the 筒 is placed back into the box straight away the 茶巾筒 is fetched; then 茶巾 on lid (ears to left)
- Hot water, 茶巾 folding (to give time for the 茶筅 to unfold?), 茶筅通し（とおし）(hold 茶碗 from above)
Tea Time!
- When the 振り出し is in, tea time finishes
- First 茶 (hold 茶碗 from above)
- Bow when first guest thanks for the tea
- Second 茶碗 L, R onto 板 (only begin after the first sip)
- I think this change of hands is difficult to make look nice, I'd find it easier to just do it with the right hand
- The second guest returns the first 茶碗 as he gets his 茶碗, if possible
- I think then the first guest goes and brings the 振り出し back.
- First rinse of the first 茶碗, お仕舞い（おしまい）, and bow; then the 振り出し is taken next to the left knee.
Cleaning
- Finishes with 建水 and box back in their position
- 茶筅通し, 茶筅 in R, get 茶筅筒 and into the box. Clean with 茶巾 (because we're gonna put stuff into it!), place bowl on 板, put away 茶巾 (folding it by pressing it against the side of the 茶巾筒)
- 茶碗 onto 古帛紗 with R, L
- Again, difficult to make look nice. Also, why not put it directly on the 古帛紗 after cleaning?
- By that time, the second 茶碗 should be returned; otherwise wait for it.
- Rinse, then clean 茶杓, then ポンポン, 建水 back, then 茶箱 back (with both hands).
Packing
- Insert first 茶碗 with both hands into second, 古帛紗 (make a little dent with the hand), 棗; lift stack up with both hands and put into 茶箱.
- 振り出し (with 1 hand)
- Pick up 茶杓 with R, then hold below R with L and put into box with R. Open 鉄瓶 lid, then last さばき(drama!) and put 帛紗 into box.
- Get lid and turn counter-clockwise (so first L goes to far-left corner), then 板. Place box in middle, turn and take 建水, then box.
What I'd Change
- I'd like to make a box that acts as a 建水 at the same time, so it has a grid and some space at the bottom.
- I never understood 古帛紗 being used on what could be the outdoor floor, so I'd change it to be a second board.
- Then you'd come in, put the box directly on the side, get the lid with the two boards on it, and without turning put it on the right side; then take both boards, but them to the left, and finally take the top board and put it in the middle.
- You could skip the turning of the lid; or, if the lid is still turned, make it so the grain runs horizontally. Then, after it's turned, all the boards have the grain in the same direction.
- It would be funny, because then the 茶筅 ends up in the same position where it is in 突き薄茶.
- It's possibly too much, but this could be fun to use with the 板風炉（いた ぶろ）.
